Dave Stieb and interloper, October 8, 1985, Tomorrow I’ll Be Perfect
This incident took place right before the top of the 2nd inning in game 1 of the 1985 ALCS. Immediately after the game, Stieb wasn’t quite as funny as above in recounting what was described in the papers as “a most enthusiastic kiss”:
I heard the crowd get excited, I looked up, and she was right on top of me.
And Stieb was on right top of the Royals batters that night, retiring the next 7 batters in order after this incident, and giving up only 3 hits and a walk in 8 scoreless innings, as the Blue Jays opened the series with a 6-1 win.
I love how this photo captures her enthusiastic leap. Also, props to her for not being cold in shorts and a garter belt with a game time temperature of only 14° C (57° F) at Exhibition Stadium.
